Iftikhar Husain, Educated at Sherwood College Nainital, India, he travelled frequently to Europe between 1977 – 1980 exhibiting and selling leather to European leather merchants as also direct to shoe factories. This period was to lay the foundation of the future success of the ZAZ.
Iftikhar made extensive contacts in the shoe and leather businesses of U.K & Europe. He spotted the trend in factories looking for cost savings by buying cut shoe leather components from India. In 1980, using his own initiative with a capital of just of Rs. 10,000 (equiv. £ 625 then), He started first leather upper unit within the family group, trading with English agents and factories.
In 1986 he set up the first shoe factory in the Group, making full fashion shoes. The Company exported to major UK and European shoe importers, leading to large scale exports to the British Shoe Corporation (BSC), the largest UK high street shoes retailer with over 700 retail outlets.
In 2000 Iftikhar Husain established an equestrian division, manufacturing all kinds of Saddles and accessories for the Horse Industry of USA, Canada, UK, Europe and Australia.
In 2002 Iftikhar made the decision to buy India’s first DESMA direct injection PU/TPU machine costing over 1.5 million Euros. He built a brand new purpose built factory to house the machine and new production line. Today the Desma machine is at the heart of the modern production that continues for the manufacture of safety shoes to important UK and European brands. For over 30 years under the dynamic leadership of Mr. Iftikhar Husain ZAZ became a known and credible exporter to UK, Europe, USA and Australia.
Nabeel Husain has completed his studies from Schiller International University, Spain. He interned with his father at the family business. He is looking after domestic as well as International Market and having a sound knowledge in this field. He also supervises production of Bag & Belt Division.
